Dengue and its Causes

Dengue is an infectious disease caused mainly by bacterial , a virus which can be infected when mosquito bites you. This is common mainly in warm and wet areas of the world. Outbreaks happen in the rainy season. Most people with dengue recover would happen within 2 weeks. However, some dengue infections are severe and that also cause bleeding from your nose, gums or under your skin. So one should go with early diagnosis if symptoms include high fever for three to five days, severe headache, muscle and joint pain were present. Below are details about Dengue Fever and its Symptoms and Prevention.

Again dengue is mainly caused by a virus, there is no specific medicine or antibiotic to treat the disease. For typical dengue fever, the treatment is directed toward relief of the symptoms.

Moreover, for dengue fever, most doctors give a caution regarding home treatment. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (e.g. aspirin (Bayer, Ecotrin), ibuprofen (Motrin), and other NSAIDs) should be avoided because of the tendency of the dengue viruses to cause hemorrhages. The NSAIDs could add to the hemorrhage symptoms. Other medications such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), codeine, or other agents that are not NSAIDs may be used.

Prevention of dengue  

No full proof vaccine is available to prevent dengue disease. The best way to prevent getting the disease is to avoid being bitten by an infected mosquito.

Avoid being bitten by a mosquito by:

1) To prevent dengue fever is to reduce mosquito breeding. One should take action to eliminate buckets of stagnant water to avoid dengue fever being transmitted to humans through mosquito bites.
2) One should call responsible authority if he/she notices any mosquito breeding sites in public places or nearby his home
3) Need to use insect repellent to avoid being bitten, it is especially around dawn and dusk
4) One should wear loose-fitting but protective clothing-
5) Try to sleep under a mosquito net

 

Some Home Remedies for Dengue Fever:

  • The humble papaya leaf juice has been seen to arrest the destruction of platelets that has been the cause for so many deaths this dengue season. Ayurveda researchers have found that enzymes in the papaya leaf could fight a host of viral infections, not only dengue, can  also help to regenerate platelets and white blood cells in our body.
  • Dengue patient should drink as much as he can in order to replace fluid loss. It can also help to go down body temperature
  • Fruits mainly contains much Vitamin C (e.g. AMLA) need to consume which helps in better absorption of iron.
  • There are great purifying agent like Neem leaves, Neem oil and that would be applied on a damp warm cloth in in dosages of between 15-60 grams for two to three times daily. Note that usage must be restricted in both males and females seeking pregnancy.
